Edith McKay, nata Gladys Edith McKay, chiamata anche Edith Dithmack (Rockhampton, 20 febbraio 1891 – 30 gennaio 1963), è stata una scrittrice e infermiera australiana[1].

Edith McKay nacque a Rockhampton e lavorò come impiegata di un avvocato a Bundaberg prima di stabilirsi nel distretto di Boonah.[2][3]

Durante la prima guerra mondiale si offrì volontaria come infermiera e fu inviata all'estero a Gallipoli e in Serbia con gli Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service.[4][5]

La McKay è molto nota per il suo romanzo del 1947 The House of Winston Blaker,[6][7] che ricevette recensioni per lo più positive a livello nazionale e fu successivamente adattato dall'Australian Broadcasting Corporation come seriale radiofonico[8][9][10]

Era nota anche per i suoi racconti, scritti sotto il nome di Edith Dithmack.[1] Più di 120 racconti di McKay furono trasmessi dalla ABC Radio[11] negli anni '40.[12]

ABC Radio adattò un'altra delle sue opere in un formato seriale nel 1952. Unborn Tomorrow, ispirato alla storia dei lavoratori di Kanaka nei campi di canna da zucchero del Queensland, fu trasmesso dal lunedì al venerdì alle 8:45.[13]
