Gauricus è un cratere lunare di 79,64 km situato nella parte sud-occidentale della faccia visibile della Luna. Quasi adiacente al bordo occidentale è presente il cratere Wurzelbauer e a nord-nordovest si trova il cratere Pitatus.
Il bordo è stato consumato ed eroso dagli impatti che ha subito nel tempo, che hanno segnato le pareti esterne con molti piccoli crateri. Tra questi, i principali sono 'Gauricus B' e 'Gauricus D' lungo il bordo meridionale e 'Gauricus G' sul bordo orientale. Il cratere 'Gauricus A' è invece adiacente al bordo esterno a sud-sudovest.
Il fondo del cratere è al contrario livellato e senza caratteristiche rilevanti, con l'eccezione della formazione 'Gauricus F' lungo il bordo settentrionale. La parte inferiore è ricoperta dalla raggiera del cratere Tycho che si trova a sud.
Il cratere è dedicato all'astronomo e matematico italiano Luca Gaurico.
