Scusi, but where did the February 1 come from? It's not in the referenced source. --Ehitaja (msg) 11:32, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]

[@ Actormusicus] Ho letto da qui ma colpevolmente non sono andato a controllare la fonte visto che la data era presente anche in altre versioni linguistiche di wikipedia. Provvedo subito a correggere.;-)--Burgundo (msg) 12:29, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
[@ Ehitaja] Weird that you first make this change on wikidata and then ask where the date itself comes from. However, I deleted the date as it does not exist in any source. It had been inserted as present in the Spanish language entry and in others.--Burgundo (msg) 13:34, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
Well, usually I'm not extremely sceptical about the dates present in different language versions, even if there is no reference. Most likely, these haven't been completely invented, and there might be sources in different languages I wouldn't find easily, so they're still probably valid enough to be noted in Wikidata with a reference to the local project - that's not a very strong epistemological basis, but it gives a clue where to dig if someone has the inclination, and it might be discovered by someone else who'll find a different, more reliable source for the claim. The birthdays on WD, of course, are a mess; a lot of them come from VIAF which is a very low quality source (or others that aren't much better). Generally, local knowledge tends to be more reliable than that. After all, there is a better chance to find some more detailed materials about Perpenti in Italian than in most other languages, and it might be much easier for a native speaker. --Ehitaja (msg) 14:23, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
Thanks for the very articulate answer. Perhaps, someone reading this discussion could find some source on the biographical date of birth.--Burgundo (msg) 15:06, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
[@ Ehitaja] Well, I asked [@ Burgundo] which had provided the date, for I actually searched the web as a native speaker, but could not find the date anywhere, and especially not on Treccani. Whether it is available in print sources, I do not know. Thank you for your report --Actormusicus (msg) 21:29, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
Well, the naming conventions for her are rather confusing, which inhibits the search. There seems to be something about "(signora/Mademoiselle) Perpenti" in, e.g. "The Biographical Dictionary of Women in Science" but the preview in Google Books is not very helpful, the version in LibGen ends abruptly in the middle, and there is no physical copy in my homeland. (There is no mention in the 1986 edition.) I suppose she might be covered in some literature on the history of industrial geology, or specifically on the history of Italian science, perhaps in Italian, which should be plentiful in Italian scientific libraries, but to check that extensively, we probably have to wait for the pandemic situation to improve. --Ehitaja (msg) 22:11, 30 gen 2021 (CET)[rispondi]
